500 Residents Benefit From 2024 Igbogbo Day Medical Outreach

About 500 elated residents of Igbogbo Kingdom were provided free medical services as part of the activities that were executed in the commemoration of the just concluded Igbogbo Day Celebration.

The medical outreach which was organized by the Medical Sub – Committee of the 2024 Igbogbo Day a at the Adeboruwa Palace, was in partnership with Lagos State Ministry of Health, Lagos State Health Maintenance Agency (LASHMA) and Health Matters Incorporated.

The initiative which aimed at providing essential healthcare services to residents offered free medical consultations, screenings of tuberculosis, diabetes, blood pressure checks amongst others.

The event also focused on health education with medical professionals sensitizing residents to raise their awareness concerning health issues.

Dr  Ademola Fatai Andu, Chairman Igbogbo Day Health Sub -Committee  2024, said that responses from residents was fantastic as people trooped out to benefit  from the free health services.

“The medical outreach is to provide free medical services to people in igbogbo kingdom. For this year, we have free blood sugar check, free blood pressure check, screening of tuberculosis and free drugs to people.

“We issued drugs for hypertensive cases, diabetes, anti-malaria medicine and analgesics.” said the medical doctor.

“The medical outreach was also a partnership with LASHMAR that enabled 200 people to receive free Ilera Eko for one year.

“Also, we partnered with the Health Matters Incorporated for the blood sugar and the blood pressure checking. It’s a non-governmental organization. The Lagos State Ministry of Health provided the van we used for screening people for tuberculosis.

“On our part, we are able to procure drugs through internal donations which we gave to the people, ” he explained.

Dr Andu informed that some of the residents were diagnosed of tuberculosis:

“At least 20 of those people that they have screened are suspected to have tuberculosis. They have actually screened about 200 and by the time other investigations are put together, it could be more.”

The health sub -committee chairman acknowledged and commended the partners for supporting the sub – committee and providing people of Igbogbo with the opportunity to access medical treatments freely.

“Also, we want to thank our people in Igbogbo too that contributed their widow’s mite. The Igbogbo Youth Coalition also supported us as well.

“There are other individuals as well. We want to say thank you to all of them, because without their support, the program would not be this successful.

“We also want to thank people for coming out to participate in the program. We hope by next year, it will be much bigger and better”, he said.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation of the sub – committee’s gesture in providing them free medical support.
